Courses
Retreat Course
Sea Island Touring Professional Davis Love III and his brother Mark redesigned Retreat in 2001. Carefully blending players’ preferences (including their own) from the earlier design, as well as devoting a lot of close personal attention, the brothers created an original design that, while dramatic, is very playable and interesting.
The Love brothers added 300 yards of length to give Retreat an open feeling with a lower profile. The course is defined by pine trees and bunkers, but allows players to swing freely for the target. Davis Love III changed the way the course plays so that everyone might enjoy the game as much as he does.
Plantation Course
Inspired by the traditional profile of Walter Travis’ 1928 original nine-hole course, the new Plantation Course has reopened after a complete redesign by Davis and Mark Love of Love Golf Design. It’s truly been a labor of love – a vision and an on-going conversation between brothers who have transformed the course they grew up playing more times than they can count.
You’ll now find the Principal’s Nose on #10 green along with phenomenal views of the ocean.
Seaside Course
Seaside is an ocean-side links course that combines its beautiful natural setting with a golf course that is both challenging and fun.
The beautifully manicured fairways and greens are bordered by sweeping dunes mixed with native grasses, wildflowers, and bunkers. The wind creates a different golf experience daily. Sea Island’s most dramatic layout, Seaside is routinely ranked among the top 100 courses in the United States.
Restaurants
The Oak Room
Relaxed tavern setting, unmatched menu. In the Oak Room you’re surrounded by leather ceilings, hand-painted murals, and a cozy ambiance. A rustic fireplace adds the finishing touch. Here you’ll find a broad range of southern favorites and signature dishes, imaginative cocktails, fine single-malt Scotch, and the sweet sounds of the bagpiper playing nearby with the setting sun. The perfect place to unwind, fill up, or sit back and take it all in.
Tavola
Sea Island’s beloved Tavola features equal parts bright Italian flair and warm Southern charm. Beautiful hand-painted tile wainscoting, eye-catching pops of vibrant red, and cozy caramel leather banquettes are the setting for our Italian fare and warm, old-world ambiance.
Colt & Alison
With warm, rich woods, deep, vibrant colors, the glow of a wood-burning fireplace, and panoramic views of the 18th hole of Plantation, you know you have entered a special place. This classic Sea Island steakhouse serves the finest cuts of USDA wet-aged and dry-aged beef, the freshest local seafood, and locally sourced side dishes. From your first glimpse to final bite, you will leave wishing every dining experience could be as wonderfully memorable as this one.
